How to Add a Profile Picture to LootLadder

You can add a profile picture to LootLadder by saving a direct HTTPS image URL in Settings. It is optional: if you leave the field empty, your profile uses an initial instead. Adding a picture does not turn on your public profile.

Get a direct image URL

Use an image you own or have permission to share. You can upload it to a reputable image-hosting service you trust, or use a picture on a website or file location you control. Choose a host that permits you to display the image on another website.

You need the address of the image itself, not the webpage containing it. For example, an image address might look like this:

https://example.com/my-avatar.jpg

This is an example format, not a working picture provided by LootLadder. An album, sharing page or search-result URL usually opens a webpage rather than an image. A direct image URL often ends in .jpg, .png or .webp, but the extension alone does not prove it will work.

If your host provides a “direct image link” option, use that. Otherwise, your browser may offer “Copy image address” when you open the image’s context menu. The wording differs between browsers and phones. Only use links the host allows you to share; do not try to work around its access or hotlink restrictions.

Add and preview your picture

1. Open Profile, then Public profile settings.
2. Find Profile picture and paste the direct HTTPS image URL.
3. Select Preview. This checks the URL format and lets your browser try displaying the image. It does not save your changes.
4. Check the small picture beside Preview. Square images usually work best because the picture is cropped to fill an avatar shape.
5. Select Save public profile when you are happy with your changes.

The Public profile switch is separate. New accounts start private. Turn it on only if you want other players to see the supported public details. Existing accounts keep their chosen visibility; check the switch if you are unsure. You can remove a picture later by clearing the URL field and saving.

If the picture does not appear

The initial placeholder appears if an image cannot load. Check that the address starts with https://, opens the image directly and does not require you to sign in. You cannot use a file path from your phone or computer.

Some hosts prevent their images from being displayed elsewhere. Others move files, remove them, or expire temporary links. Use a different image location you control or a host that explicitly supports sharing a direct image URL. Do not bypass a host’s restrictions.

A URL can pass the format check while its image is unavailable. You can still save the profile: a broken picture does not block your other settings. If the host later removes or moves the file, LootLadder shows the default initial until you replace or remove the URL.

Choose what you share

LootLadder stores the URL; it does not upload or host your picture. The external image host receives the browser request whenever someone loads the picture, including during Preview. Use a host you trust. LootLadder does not send the referring page address with avatar image requests, but that does not make the request anonymous to the host.

Do not use private or authenticated image links. Do not paste links containing passwords, access tokens or other secrets, even if they happen to display a picture in your browser. A saved URL is not a safe place for credentials. If your profile is public, visitors can inspect its image URL.

Consider the picture itself, too. Avoid images that reveal an address, private document or other information you did not intend to share. Leaving the picture empty is always an option.
